Delta Conference Guests Love Mission Hill Winery

Kelowna is becoming a much sought-after location for conferences and business meetings. Planners of conferences are turning to destinations such as Kelowna, where budgets stretch further, to host their meetings and conferences.

Delta Grand Okanagan

Our premier accommodator for conferences is the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort by Marriott, with 324 guest rooms and 35, 083 square feet of meeting space. There are 14 event rooms with the largest capacity room able to accommodate 1750 attendees. The conference space also boasts a lakeside Terrace where a VIP event could be held. Each of the meeting and event rooms include Wi-Fi and audio-visual technology, and many offer views.

The hotel’s on-site team can assist in the planning of an impressive conference. They will assist with every detail, including venue selection, menus and planning events. The Delta offers many amenities including a pool, 24-hour gym, spa and the Oak and Cru restaurant. Each room includes complimentary Wi-fi and a smart desk for connectivity for the travelling business person.

The Delta’s prime downtown lakeside location places conference-goers in the heart of Kelowna’s Cultural District where farm-to-table dining, craft distillers, craft breweries, and wineries are all within walking distance. The meetings industry is in transition with participants and planners seeking authentic and unique experiences to enjoy outside of their meetings. In addition to the downtown locations, the Okanagan offers many off site event locations, including agricultural locations and premier wineries. BlueStar has provided the transportation for off site events for several conferences at the Delta, with one of the most popular destinations being Mission Hill Family Estate Winery.

Mission Hill Family Estate Winery

Mission Hill was established in 1966. Current proprietor, Anthony von Mandl, purchased the abandoned estate in 1981. Architects were commissioned in 1996 to rebuild the winery, with the work being completed in 2002. The focal point of the design is a twelve-story and 85-foot-high bell tower, with four bells, the largest weighing 800 kilograms. Mission Hill didn’t purchase its own vineyards until 1996, and now farm 32 family-owned estate vineyards in the Okanagan Valley. The winery produces wines across five tiers. The entry level wines are labeled “Five Vineyards” followed by the “Estate Series”. The next tier are the “Reserve” wines, then the “Terroir Collection” followed by the top-tier “Legacy Collection”.

Conference guests enjoy a guided tour; the tour of the winery explores the wine culture, underground barrel cellars and distinctive wines of this exquisite landmark winery. Guests taste Mission Hill’s featured wines surrounded by stunning architecture and gardens. The tour is followed by a wine paired dinner featuring the culinary creations of the Executive Chef. Their Chef choreographs an epicurean extravaganza and leads the guests through an unforgettable dining experience.
